Meet the team
I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2007 and initially remained there teaching Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology before the lure of working in practice took over and I moved back home. My first two roles were in another Vets For Pets clinic and then subsequently an independent Tier 3 veterinary hospital in South Yorkshire.
During this time I met my now husband hence the move to Leicestershire and Oadby Vets For Pets in 2010. Since qualifying I have also gained further qualifications in animal behaviour, acupuncture and small animal surgery. I became Practice Director at Oadby in 2012, and have also helped set up another two Vets For Pets clinics in Rugby.
I enjoy the variety that working in general practice brings along with the additional challenges of owning and managing a busy clinic. I'm immensely proud to head up our phenomenal team and the passion, dedication and skills that they all have.
Outside of work I enjoying spending time with my family and pets with my hobbies including horse riding, walking, cooking and travelling.
Jo Rushton
Head Veterinary Surgeon
BVMedSci (hons) BVM BVS (hons) PgC SAM MRCVS.

I qualified in 2012 from Nottingham University and have recently completed a postgraduate certificate in Small Animal Medicine. I am married to Sean, and currently have 2 naughty torties, 2 very cheeky bunnies and some fish. I enjoy playing the piano, supporting Norwich City Football Club (someone has to!) and socialising with family and friends.
Joined the Practice in 2013.
I am married with 2 young boys, 1 cat, 2 gerbils and 2 fish.
I love most things about my job but I probably lean more towards medicine, in particular Cardiology and Endocrinology.

I qualified in 2020 from Nottingham University. My areas of interest currently include small animal behaviour, dermatology and reproduction, but I am also developing quite a enthusiasm for soft tissue surgery. I have a scruffy terrier cross called Tinker who is my world and I definitely aim to adopt more dogs in the future. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going for long walks, listening to music and drawing/painting.
I joined the practice in 2022
I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2022 and joined Oadby Vets4Pets shortly after. My main interests are any & everything involving small animals & exotic pets, and wildlife.
I have a staffy called Jupiter who is my whole world, and she inspires me every day to help animals to the best of my ability.
In my free time I really enjoy collecting books and minerals, reading, drawing, photography, music, & going on adventures with the family.
I qualified from the University of Surrey in 2023. I have a keen interest in surgery so I spent some time volunteering at a spay and neuter clinic in India just before I started at the practice. I’ve also spent some time in South Africa volunteering with local wildlife vets to support the work involved in the conservation of endangered species like rhinos.
Outside of work I enjoy travelling and finding new places to explore for hikes, making sure to find a nice cafe to stop for cake and coffee!
Joined the Practice in 2007.
I live with my gorgeous cat Paddy. Oh and my husband Jay! I enjoy Pilates and running - generally keeping fit. I love spending time with family and friends socialising.
I love every part of my job and I cannot say that I have a particular interest in just one area but I do love consultations and being able to help clients with any problems they may have with their pets. My priority is making sure that all of our in-patients are cared for to the highest standards on a daily basis.
Andrea Gillibrand

I'm married with 2 children and have a Bedlington terrier called Curtis who you may have seen on our social media page as I help run it. I enjoy travel, live music events and dining out.
I enjoy all aspects of being a Veterinary Nurse and just working in a fun happy team and looking after some fantastic patients is enough.
Joined the practice in 2018.
I have a cheeky Rottweiler called Jake. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with the family and travelling.
I’ve been nursing for a few years, doing a mixture of referral and first opinion work and I enjoy all aspects of it. I have a keen interest in medicine in particular nutrition and inpatient care. I am hoping to further my knowledge in the future by gaining a certificate in nutrition.
I joined the practice in 2022
I live with my partner and our cheeky (and very naughty) cat Dash who I rescued as a kitten 4 years ago.
I enjoy all aspects of nursing with a particular interest in inpatient care and surgery. I am delighted to be back working with the team after 4 years away.
In my spare time I enjoy travelling, gardening and baking.
I started at Oadby in October 2023 having moved from another Vets4Pets. I’ve been qualified since August 2021 as a Registered Veterinary Nurse after a career change from being a Marine Biologist.
I live with my husband, Dottie who is a Labrador x collie and our cat Suzi aka ‘The Beans’. I enjoy many aspects of nursing and am continually trying to build my skills and knowledge to provide the best care and advice for our furry patients and clients.
Outside of work I enjoy pottering in the garden, crafting, seeing live music and visiting new countries.
Heather Garrigan-Simms
Student Veterinary Nurse

I joined the practice in October 2022.
I qualified as a VCA with a double distinction in March 2022 at another Vets4Pets practice. I live with my husband and our two cats called Fish and Chip.
I am excited to start my nursing in 2023 at the practice.
I enjoy horse riding weekly with my sister, being a giant Disney nerd and watching interesting documentaries.
My favourite part of the job is seeing a sick patient through treatment to recovery. There is nothing better then seeing a patient reunited with thier family after being in our care.
I joined the practice in September 2022.
I live with my partner and our sassy netherland dwarf rabbit. We also have a very cheeky (and mischievous) cat called Oliver.
I enjoy reading, photography and exploring the countryside and national parks.

Areas of interest: My fur babies. Animal behaviour. Crafting: I like to sew even though I’m not very good. DIY: love to make things from pallets and love power tools.
Joined the practice in January 2013
I have two grown up children and one grandson and a very lively Sprocker called Elvis and a not so lively tortoise called Rocket. I really enjoy going to the theatre with family and friends.
I love the variety of work that each day brings to the practice. We have a lovely working atmosphere with colleagues and good relationships with the clients and their pets. I feel most rewarded when a poorly pet goes home better.
I joined the practice October 2022 after transferring from another Vets4Pets in Sheffield.
I have returned home back to Leicester with my retired racing greyhound, Romeo (Racing name was Romeo Superhero!), who I adopted in 2018 from the Greyhound Trust. I used to volunteer at the trust every week to walk and groom the Greyhounds and loved it!
In my spare time I am a freelance illustrator/artist specialising in fantasy themed art and pet portraits but I also love playing video games, exploring new places and walking with Romeo.
The best thing I enjoy about working at Vets4Pets is meeting the clients and the variety of pets we have attending the practice daily - even better when I can get pet cuddles too!
