Paul Pemberton

After first studying at Bangor and Aberdeen universities, I graduated with a veterinary degree from the University of Cambridge in 1994. I worked in a rural practice in East Yorkshire for several years with pets, horses, farm animals and occasional "exotic" species such as rheas, wallabies and iguanas. I also worked in Lincolnshire briefly before opening my practice here in York. My favourite part of being a vet is being “hands on” with animals in the consulting room or operating theatre which is, thankfully, what I do mostly! Naturally I love all animals, particularly dogs because of their unconditional loyalty. I do not have a dog currently but, with my wife and young son, I have three cats: Lola, who can be seen on my shoulder in the picture, Milos and Tabitha. My favourite famous animal has to be Jerry the mouse (as in Tom & Jerry) because he is determined, innovative and always comes out on top! My spare time these days is divided between desperately trying get on top of the gardening, equally desperately trying to keep up with my son on the tennis court or in the swimming pool, and occasionally getting out on my mountain bike or in a rowing boat.

I Joined the practice in September 2018, working as a work experience student. I’m now completing my level 3 diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Askham Bryan College.

I enjoy working at the vets as everyday is never the same, and being part of a friendly team!

I have pets of my own, a horse called hope who I regularly compete and two miniature Shetland’s since I’ve had since being small.

In my spare time I love to go for long walks with the family, and reading.

I became a veterinary Care Assistant in early 2022.

I love looking after animals.

I recently got my Labrador puppy , Ralph. A lot of my free time is taken up walking and training Ralph.

I also enjoy playing sport, especially netball and cricket.

I started working at Vets4Pets in November 2016 and every day is different. I constantly meet lovely people & lovely animals! I've always had pets myself, ranging from dogs, cats, rabbits & hamsters. I've also looked after ferrets. At the moment I have a welsh terrier called Max & a Syrian hamster called Rosa. When I'm not at work, I enjoy going to the gym & cycling (I'm a qualified fitness instructor & personal trainer), spending time with my family & anything historical.

I've been working for Vets4Pets as a receptionist since January 2017. Originally from Russia, I moved to York in 2002. I love animals and had a Dalmatian called Lia while growing up. One of the perks of my job is to get to meet and greet all kinds of pets. In my spare time I like to play video games. Working at Vets4Pets has made me really appreciate how much vets and nurses do to help poorly and sick animals. I'm really glad to be part of the team.

I returned to the UK earlier in the year with my 6 cats after living in the Middle East for many years. I am enjoying having weather and seasons again.
In my spare time I can be found in the garden, doing Family History research or exploring York.
