Zizia (Elizabeth) Douglas
Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVS
Zizia graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2009. She took her first job in Essex as a mixed equine and small animal vet. After four years of mixed practice, Zizia could see that her professional interests lay with small animals. Zizia is passionate about all areas of medicine and surgery but has particular interests in soft tissue surgery, dentistry and diagnostic imaging.
Having always had the ambition to own her own practice, Zizia is excited to be the new Joint Venture Partner and is keen to provide an excellent standard of care for Chelmsford’s pets. Zizia lives locally with her husband and two daughters. She has a rescue dachshund called Lulu, a rescue one-eyed cat called Timmy and a Labrador called Autumn. Outside of work she enjoys horse riding, jogging and family dog walks.Gail, Essex born and bred, qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1986.
Working in many different walks of veterinary life over the years, mixed practice, equine practice, small animal practice and 5 years as a dedicated emergency vet on night and week-end shifts has taken her all over the country – and to the other side of the world! Gail joined us in May 2009 and says she is content to be back on the day shift as “The Old Part-Timer”!! Her veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging and metabolic disorders. She enjoys contributing to the profession through her many roles on the Council of Essex Veterinary Society over many years, including her “proudest moments” as President in 2002 and 2003. Hobbies include motorcycling, dancing, swimming and skiing.
Becky, originally from Chelmsford, graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2006. Her first job was in a mixed animal practice in North Cambridgeshire, it was a great introduction to the beginning of her veterinary career. After 3 years she decided to move back to Essex after spending some time travelling to Hong Kong, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea. Becky started at the practice in September 2010. Her veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery and medicine – especially endocrinology. She loves being a vet and enjoys looking after her two mischievous border terriers!
Emma joined the team in September 2019 after graduating with a VetMB from Cambridge University. Emma’s favourite part of being a vet is meeting new patients and that each day is never the same! Emma enjoys the strong relationships she has made with the team throughout her time here. Emma lives in Chelmsford with Richmond the sausage dog and her cats Benson, Matilda, Dottie and Mr. Norman Biscuits!
Vittoria joined our team in November 2023 after recently moving to the area.
Vittoria graduated in July 2022 and has a keen interest in surgery. In her free time, Vittoria enjoys drawing and spending time with her friends and family.
Emma joined Vets4Pets Chelmsford in February 2023.
Emma qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2000. Emma has worked in many clinics, ranging from small animal, large animal, referral and exotics. She has also worked abroad for various charities in Africa and Thailand, as well as locum nursing around the UK.
At home Emma has 2 budgies and is foster carer to a african gray parrot.
Jen recently completed her Bsc (Hons) degree in Veterinary Nursing and Applied Animal Behaviour at Anglia Ruskin University. Jen has been working with the practice since 2019, she completed several of her university work placements with the practice and worked part time while she completed the final year of her university. Jen graduated in 2022 and is now a full time RVN. Jen’s favourite part of being a veterinary nurse is inpatient care and spending time in the wards. Outside of work Jen enjoys spending time with her family and sailing.
Emma qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2003, and has spent much of her career working at veterinary charities. Emma has also spent time working in Thailand and Australia and is now settled in Chelmsford with her family and persian cat Colin.
Beverley qualified in 2013 and joined the Vets4Pets team in Chelmsford in 2023.
Beverley enjoys delivering high standards of customer service, using her nursing knowledge to help clients at the front desk. Beverley also uses her RVN qualification to process insurance claims and put up repeat medication requests. She still has clinical working days as a qualified nurse which she really enjoys, and keeps up to date with her required CPD.
Outside of work, Beverley has young twins and a rescue dog called Rocky, who is very naughty but cute!
Sarah qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2011. She enjoys all aspects of nursing, especially inpatient care and anaesthesia. Sarah joined our team in September 2023.
Sarah lives with her husband, 3 children and a lovely labrador called Luna.
Asher joined the practice in April 2022 and is currently studying Veterinary Nursing which she is due to finish in 2024. Asher has a keen interest in hydrotherapy and hopes to study this in the future.
Asher enjoys all aspects of nursing, especially theatre nursing and nurse clinics.
Danielle is currently studying her Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Writtle College. Danielle has been working in veterinary practice for many years and joined the team in May 2022. Her favourite part of the job is recovering the patients after their procedures and she especially likes to work with our feline patients. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her hand rear cat Albus Dumblepaws and her family.
Karen joined the team in January 2018 initially as a receptionist and then progressed onto gaining her level 2 diploma as a Veterinary Care Assistant in March 2020. Karen enjoys getting stuck in and assisting the vets and nurses. Outside of work Karen enjoys walking and spending time with her Labrador Douglas.
Carly lives in Chelmsford and has worked at the practice since February 2014. She has two children, one secondary school age and her oldest child is at Stansted College and many animals including a dog, cat, hamster and guinea pigs. In her spare time, Carly likes to spend time with her family especially in activities such as swimming, football and visiting the seaside. Carly enjoys the challenge of working in the busy environment of the practice and the variety of work which her role demands.
Tash joined the team in August 2021 as a Veterinary Care Assistant and studied veterinary care support which she completed in August 2023. Tash especially enjoys getting to meet all of our feline patients. Tash enjoys running our social media pages, and outside of work Tash enjoys walking and photography.
Allie has been working with the practice since August 2021. She enjoys working in a busy, challenging practice, interacting with clients and our gorgeous patients. She also loves a cheeky snuggle with the animals when she can. Outside of work Allie enjoys arts, crafts and all things animals!
Rebecca joined the team in 2024 bringing with her a wealth of veterinary nursing experience.
At home Rebecca has a dog and 2 horses.
Leah qualified in 2020 after studying veterinary nursing with applied animal behavior.
Since qualifying, Leah has worked in referral nursing and in a hospital. She joined the team here in October 2024. Leah enjoys emergency and critical care nursing, and anaesthesia.
Outside of work, Leah enjoys spending time with her family and gaming.
Philippa lives in a village just outside Chelmsford with her husband and always looks forward to regular visits from her five children and 4 grandchildren. Her family have a number of pets including a German shepherd dog, two bunnies, two guinea pigs and a tortoise.
Philippa’s hobbies include walking, especially in the local wooded countryside and along coastal footpaths. She also enjoys sailing, power-boating and taking-part and assisting in various activities within the church she regularly attends. She worked with the practice from 2007 to 2011 as part-time receptionist and returned in November 2014 to take up the role of practice administrator. Philippa has since been promoted to practice manager and enjoys working with her colleagues, in an animal care environment, aiming to provide the best possible service to clients and their pets.
Rebecca joined Vets4Pets Chelmsford in April 2018.
Amber joined Vets4Pets Chelmsford in 2022. She has 2 dogs called Ivy and Lexie.
Amber enjoys greeting our patients with treats when they arrive at the clinic, giving them a little cuddle too! Amber has an extra soft spot for Cocker Spaniels.
Anna joined Vets4Pets Chelmsford in September 2022.
Anna has 2 cats Chester and Charlie and enjoys creative craft work.
Shireen joined the team in May 2024, bringing along with her 6 years of veterinary reception experience.
Shireen has 4 show dogs consisting of Papillons and Nova scotia duck tolling retrievers, and regularly attends shows including Crufts for the last 3 years.
Charlotte joined the team in May 2024, having always wanted to work with animals.
Charlotte has an extensive background in customer service roles, and very much enjoys delivering high standards of client care.
At home Charlotte has a rescue cat called Presh who is 8 years old and enjoys lots of cuddles!
