Yate Vets4Pets

I graduated from Royal Veterinary College, London in 2004 and started work in Suffolk and Dorset before settling with my family in the Bristol area. I enjoy many aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery, and the challenge of running my own veterinary practice. I strive to practise high quality medicine and provide the best possible service to my clients. In 2023 I passed a general practitioner certificate in emergency surgery and medicine.

Being a family man, I hope you and your pets will enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere when coming to Yate Vets4Pets. If you have any questions during your visit or would like a tour then please just ask. Outside of work, I am usually busy chasing my energetic two children around the house, and stealing the odd moment for some DIY or renovations. Otherwise I can be found walking my 2 dogs, Ethel and Hagrid, being bossed around by my cats, Toothless and Enola and mucking out the pony, Charms.

I always wanted to be a vet and qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2005. I have worked in small animal practice since then. I am originally from the Bristol area and after spending some time in Dorset and Wiltshire I moved back to Bristol in 2011. I have been involved behind the scenes at Vets4Pets Yate since it opened and officially joined the team in 2017 when I became a partner in the business. I enjoy all areas of first opinion work but my main area of interest is in diagnostic imaging. In 2021 I obtained a post graduate certificate in Diagnostic Imaging and I spend a lot of time performing ultrasound scans.

At home I have 2 daughters, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a pony who keep me very busy! When I do get some free time I like to read and spend time at the yard.

I graduated in summer 2018 from the University of Bristol. Before undertaking a veterinary degree I completed a degree in Biology (also at Bristol) and then worked in publishing for 3 years with the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, working on books for vets. This job ultimately led me to realise I wanted to become one!

I joined Vets4Pets Yate as soon as I qualified and have been here ever since. I really enjoy being a vet - I especially enjoy dermatology cases and medicine. Outside of work I like pub quizzing, running, camping and travelling to new places. At home I have 3 small children and a cat called Jeremy.

Emily is currently on maternity leave.

I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2018 and started working at a different branch of Vets4Pets. I moved to Vets4Pets Yate in 2020 to be closer to home. I really love surgery and have a post graduate certificate in Small Animal Surgery. My favourite place to be in is the operating theatre!

Outside of work I have a dachshund called Wilf and I love taking him for walks. I’m also a fan of rugby, American football and Formula 1.

Lily is currently on maternity leave.

Lucy has been qualified for 4 years. She is soon to start an emergency medicine and surgery certificate as her passion lies in surgery and diagnostic work ups. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and exploring the ever changing food scenes of Bristol.

She has been learning to do upholstery and at home does lots of DIY.

I grew up in Scotland near Loch Lomond and completed my studies at the University of Edinburgh in 2023. I have always had a strong affinity for animals (especially cats!) so this career was always ideal for me! Before moving to Bristol, I took a little time off for some travelling in Asia, but now am feeling settled here in my new job and city down South. Within veterinary I enjoy all aspects of the job, especially getting to know the pets and owners in the area, as well as the Yate team members.

Outside of work, I love to paint and craft, including pet portraits for my friends and family. I also love exploring Bristol, whether it be through going on runs, concerts, or trying out local restaurants!

I am an RVN (Registered Veterinary Nurse), qualifying in 2003. I am a proud Australian who moved to the UK in 1992, so now I am technically more English than Australian! I used to live and work in London and have worked in many areas of the veterinary world, from nurse, to head nurse, to pharmaceutical rep, emergency nurse and practice manager, which is what I now do here. I have been with Vets4Pets Yate since 2018 and love the team and the clients. My special interest is nutrition, especially raw diets as that is what I feed my dogs. So if I am not sitting at my desk trying to organise everything in the practice, I am doing weight and nutrition consultations with clients which I love!

When I am not at work, I attempt to manage a chaotic house of a husband, 3 kids, a dog and 2 cats! I love anything fun and would love more hours in the day to fit everything in!

I started here in May 2017 as a veterinary care assistant. Before that I worked on the shop floor in Pets at Home. I started my nurse training in April 2018 and qualified in 2020. In 2021 I was promoted to Deputy Head Nurse.

I love all types of nursing but I especially enjoy medical nursing and dealing with small furries (I am rabbit and guinea pig mad!).

Outside of work I love going to the gym and spending time with my family.

I joined Vets4Pets Yate in 2021. I have always wanted to be a veterinary nurse and I applied to every practice within 20 miles trying to get a training position. I qualified in 2019. I love medical nursing and really enjoy consults (I love talking to people!). In 2022 I was promoted to head nurse.

Outside of work I love horses, keeping fit and spending time with my two little girls. I have two very energetic collie called Cora and Diesel, and a rabbit at home.

I qualified as a RANA back in 1982! Long before being known as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN). I have been fortunate enough over the years to have worked with animals of all shapes, sizes and a wide range of scales, feathers or fur. 

Having worked in mixed, large animal, equine and small animal to more specialised practices, I have done my fair share of getting cold/wet on farms with TB testing as well as getting to assist with operating on a variety cows, pigs, horses and sheep. I have trained to be a marine medic on call to help with any stranded seals, dolphins and whales in my local vicinity. 

I am now extremely lucky to be one of the nurses dealing with Bristol Zoo Gardens and Wild Place Project collections. Now most of my working days are spent dealing with everything from the smallest Poison Dart Frog and spiders to Giraffes and Gorillas - with everything inbetween - exciting times. One of my favourite moments has been being part of the first Gorilla Caesarian Section in the UK - real success story as both mum and baby survived despite being really poorly. 

Although I do still work in small animal practice with some emergency night work, because I enjoy the variety of pets and my contact with clients as well as visiting schools and nursery groups encouraging and educating the next generation to learn about the correct needs of their pets. 

When able I love relaxing by walking in the forest. 

I joined the practice in May 2022 and passed my final nursing exams in June 2022. I enjoy all aspects of nursing but I especially enjoy anything with rabbits.

I originally joined the practice as a receptionist. I then moved out the back to become a veterinary care assistant and from there I started my nurse training, qualifying in 2022. I love the diversity of the job, meeting the clients and their lovely pets. I have always had a passion for animals and their welfare and I am the practice cat advocate which means I ensure that we adhere to cat friendly handling at all times.

Outside of work I like to spend time with my family, going away for the weekend and looking after my own pets. I'm a crazy cat lady, I have 4 cats (although if I had my way I would have more!), 2 dogs and a Horsefield tortoise called Milo!

I qualified in 2022 and spent 2 years working in a practice in Dorset. In 2024 I moved to Gloucestershire to live with my partner and joined the team at Vets4Pets Yate.

I love all aspects of nursing and have a special soft spot for any scruffy terrier type dogs, especially if they have a beard!

I first came to the practice on day release from college when I was studying animal management. In 2020 I was offered a full time position as a veterinary care assistant and I am now starting nursing college. I hope to qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2024.

I love dogs and have a naughty Jack Russell called Charlie at home.

I joined the practice in 2019 as a receptionist. In 2021 I changed role and became a veterinary care assistant. I completed a veterinary care assistant diploma and in 2023 I started training to be a registered veterinary nurse. I love spending time with the patients and making them feel comfortable.

Outside of work I enjoy keeping fit and spending time with my family. We are big Man Utd fans in my house and I have three dachshunds called Phil, Gary and Neville!

I am a self confessed crazy cat lady! I joined the team in April 2022 as a veterinary care assistant. I have been involved with animals my whole life and have developed a strong interest in animal behaviour. In my spare time I foster for a cat rescue centre but I am also a servant to 2 of my own cats at home, Tiggy and Maple.

I originally joined the practice a few years ago as a helper on the weekends while I was studying animal care at college.

After finishing my course I joined the team permanently as a veterinary care assistant. This means I help out with looking after the in patients by feeding and walking them and making sure that they are comfortable after operations. I also help to prepare theatre for operations, sterilise equipment, run lab tests, hold patients for blood tests and procedures and also help out anywhere else I am needed.

My hope is to train as a veterinary nurse in the future.

I originally worked in Pets at Home on the shop floor. Then in 2017 when a position came up in Vets4Pets I moved upstairs to join the team. I enjoy talking with all the clients and meeting all their pets and helping in any way I can. Within the practice I am known for my loud voice and big smile! I love that my job presents me with something different every single day.

At home I have three grown up children and two dogs. I love taking the dogs for a walk and going out for meals or to the cinema. Nothing beats sitting in the garden with my dogs and a drink in my hand.

I have worked as a receptionist at Vets4Pets since 2016. People always told me never to work with children or animals, So I worked in a school and now a vets;  I don't see what the problem is!

I enjoy meeting all the pets (and their owners) but I am mainly a dog person and like nothing more than spending time walking my dogs Tia and Taz.

I joined the team in 2020 after a career break to look after my children. My job at the surgery is to process insurance claims and I also help out on reception. If you have any queries about insurance or how to put in a claim I am the person to speak to!

At home I have a naughty cat called Sylvie. I also make cakes for birthdays and other celebrations.

I joined the team in April 2023. I have 4 dogs, 4 children and 8 grandchildren. I love spending time with my grandchildren, going on holiday, doing DIY, gardening and reading. I also love walking and spending time with my dogs.
