Meet the team
I qualified as a vet in 1998. I opened Durham Vets for Pets as JVP in 2003. Then, in 2014, I joined forces with Mindaugas opening the Washington surgery. I enjoy all aspects of my job and providing as broad and accessible service to the pet owners of the North East. Outside of work I enjoy playing badminton and spending time outdoors with my family and all of my own animals at home.
I qualified as a vet in 2005 and worked at our sister practice for a while before becoming a partner in the Washington practice in 2014. I enjoy performing surgeries, particularly orthopaedic procedures such as cruciate and fracture repairs. In the little spare time I have I enjoy spending time with my family, playing basketball and getting out on the open water.
I qualified in the last months of the last millennium, and have spent the intervening years in general practice in the South East and North East respectively. After several years working in dedicated Emergency and Critical Care, I graduated into full time management for a while.
In 2020 I returned to general practice and joined the Vets for Pets team when Kevin invited me to join as joint JVP.
In my spare time - such as it is - I keep a pack of border collies, and enjoy (or not) home renovation!
I qualified as a vet in 1998. I have worked in general practice, emergency and critical care, blood banking and more recently, regenerative medicine. I obtained a master’s degree in veterinary research in 2021. I thoroughly enjoy being a vet and see it as a privilege to have a career working with and treating animals. Outside of work I enjoy academic writing and research, photography, riding horses, skiing, paddle boarding and running. I am happiest outside in the countryside on a calm lake, river or in the sea spending time with my family, friends and menagerie of (pretty much all acquired by accident/rescue) animals.

I graduated in 2021. Before making the journey up north I spent a year and a half working in a busy 24 hour veterinary hospital in Reading. My interests lie in medicine cases as I enjoy treating the patient from start to finish and seeing them recover from their particular illness.
In my spare time I enjoy gaming and spending time with my rescue cat Samson who came into the practice as an unwell stray.
I am a registered veterinary nurse and I have worked at the practice for many years. I have lots of pets – cats, fish, guinea pigs, axolotls and a dog as well as a husband and two children. I enjoy all aspects of nursing but I particularly enjoy orthopaedic nursing and consults. I am currently studying towards my Vets Now Emergency Critical Care certificate which I hope to have completed in September. My favourite animal is a red panda.
I have been in the vet profession for 20 years and enjoy all aspects of nursing with my favourite being consults and being in theatre. I also enjoy working with the local pet blood bank. In my spare time I love nothing more than travelling in my campervan and walking my two whippets.
After leaving school in 2012 I originally qualified as a beauty therapist and have worked in many retail stores since. I have always had pets and working with animals is something I have always been passionate about
I started at Vets4Pets Washington in Sept 2018 and have not looked back since. Every Day is an exciting challenge and I love the team I work with.
I am the proud co owner of Sam and Lola our family Jack Russels and have a puppy Jack Russel of my own Ollie who recently had an extensive orthopaedic procedure so I was the other side of the consult table.
I have been with the practice since 2019 and have qualified as a veterinary nurse in December 2022. My most enjoyable aspect of the job is consults. It is always rewarding being able to see and nurse all of our poorly patients back to health. I have a Lurcher at home but have a very big soft spot for all bully breeds.
I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2022 after completing all of my training at the practice. With a zoology degree I started my career as a zoo keeper, then took an interest in the medical side of animal care. I love looking after inpatients. I currently own two snakes and a gecko and I love creepy crawlies! If there is ever a spider in the practice I’m the nurse who runs to the rescue!
I have worked here since 2021 when I started my studies to become a registered vet nurse but have been in the industry since 2020 having experience in emergency and critical care. I am a rabbit lover having two of my own, Ellie and Pepper, who are rescues, along with having a horse called Diva. I enjoy going to live bands and adventuring around the UK with my paddle board.
I am at the beginning of my nursing career and looking forward to learning from this lovely team. My favourite part about coming to work is seeing all of the friendly animals. Outside of work I love spending time with my Cockapoo, Coco. She is such a happy, full of life dog who graces everyone she meets with joy.
Hi my name is Helen. I joined the practice in April 2024 as a RVN. I enjoy all aspects of my role especially theatre work and consulting. I also have keen interest in dentistry and diabetes. In my spare time I love to be outdoors in my allotment or spending time with friends and family. At home I have a cat called 'Rascal' who lives true to his name.
I have been with the practice since we opened in 2014. As the practice administrator I am responsible for a lot of the work behind the scenes including submitting insurance claims and dealing with accounts. My spare time is spent with my two very adorable dogs, Layla the Labrador and Teddy the Golden Retriever.
I’ve been at the practice since we opened having transferred from our sister practice at Durham. I am the crazy cat lady and feeder of the group always bringing in treats. I love meeting all of our lovely patient’s - especially the cats. In my spare time I love days out exploring villages and spending time with my grandson and husband, as well as looking after my Golden Retriever Barney and cats Kitten and Leah.
I joined the Vets for Pets family in 2021 and since then I have never looked back. It’s been my lifelong passion to work with animals and I’m so lucky to have been given the opportunity to do so. My passion extends further than my reception work. I have my own pet portrait business and I’m privileged to have drawn some of our clients’ fur babies. I have two free roam house rabbits, Barney and Mabel and I am preparing to welcome a new dog into my life in early 2024!
I’ve been working at the practice for over 5 years now and enjoy meeting and greeting all the pets and clients at reception along with receiving lots if puppy cuddles. Any spare time I have is spent looking after our three Lurchers called Flynn, Jess and Merlin and our beautiful black cat Cosmic.
I have worked at the practice since August 2022 and enjoy all aspects of my role. My favourite thing about my job is meeting all the wonderful patients along with puppy cuddles whenever I can squeeze them in! My favourite animals are horses having 3 myself at home but seem to take home any animal that comes my way!
I have been with the practice since 2021. The best part of my job is getting to know all of our lovely patients especially the dogs as I have a huge soft spot for all dogs in our care. I have two of my own dogs at home, Shih Zhu’s Simba and Louis.… obvious Disney fan here! In my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with my family.
I started my adventure with Vets for Pets in January 2023. It’s always been a lifelong dream of mine to work with animals as my family and friends call me Mrs Dolittle! The best part of this job is giving lots of love and care to our patients. At home, I have my own little pack, Freddie the Greyhound, 3 hamsters, 9 budgies, a daughter and a husband who keep me busy when I am not at work.
My favourite part of this job is greeting all the furry patients at the door with a cuddle and a treat, it's impossible to have a bad day when you get a hug from a dog!
I have a little shih Tzu called Millie and two whites tree frogs called Twig and Lily and when I'm not at work I like to work on scaping their terrarium and walking Millie in the woods.
Vets for Pets Washington is committed to bringing you friendly, affordable, high quality care via a modern, well equipped practice, including a lab, pharmacy, digital x-ray and ultrasound.
In 2019, we had an extension that developed separate cat and dog waiting areas, 5 consult rooms, dog and cat specific hospital wards and an isolation facility. Summer 2023 saw additional improvements to our practice as well as an exciting new rebranded look, Vets for Pets. Both our cat and dog wards have been extended and we have a new operating theatre, as well as several other developments to better utilise the space.
