Orthopaedics

Our veterinary team have undertaken advanced training to allow us to perform orthopaedic surgery in our practice. If your pet develops an abnormality involving their skeleton or joints, such as a patella (kneecap) that gets stuck, or a torn cruciate ligament, an orthopaedic procedure may help them.

Airway Surgery

Brachycephalic dog breeds such as French bulldogs and pugs may suffer with Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome, resulting in difficult breathing, sleeping and exercise intolerance. Surgery to widen the entrance to the nostrils and shortening the soft palate to help prevent life-threatening breathing problems can be performed at this surgery.

I grew up in Australia with a house full of pets and a desire to become a vet from a very young age. I graduated in 1999 from Melbourne University and started work in a mixed practice seeing dogs, cats, horses, cattle and alpacas. During this time I discovered my interest in surgery, particularly orthopaedics. in 2002 I moved to the UK to travel and I was fortunate that I could work as a vet here at the same time. I worked in a large charity and various private practices all over the country until settling in as the senior surgeon to a clinic in Portsmouth. We had a high surgical caseload and helped numerous pets to get better. Our family cat, Figaro, came to the clinic after a car accident and we repaired his broken leg and nursed him back to health. He is now running around like nothing happened. In my spare I try to keep up with my two small children. Gosport Vets4Pets is a family run local business supported by Vets4Pets in all the mundane matters that a business needs to do to function. At the heart of our clinic is my team. They do their utmost to care for your pets and to help you provide for all your pet's needs. We look forward to seeing you and your pets and welcome feedback.

I qualified in Milan, Italy, in 2007 and spent the past 10 years caring for my fluffy patients. I moved to England in 2009 and have been working in small animal charity and private practice since then. I am passionate about Veterinary Ophthalmology and have obtained the GpCert (Ophthal) post-graduate qualification in 2014. I believe each and every one of our patients are different from one another and very special, and I thoroughly enjoy getting to know their cheeky characters. Life at the practice is busy with poorly pets and nothing compares with seeing them get better and wagging their happy tails again!

What is your favourite animal and why?
My favourite animal is a slow loris, they are super cute but they have a toxic bite.

What's the best animal name that you have come across?
The best animal name that I have come across was a cocker spaniel called Jarvis... ’Jarvis Cocker’.

What's the best aspect of working for Vets4Pets?
I have been working as head nurse here at Vets4Pets Gosport since March 2014. I thoroughly enjoy my role and being part of such a fantastic team. It’s very rewarding to see the growth and development of the practice. The aspect of my job that I enjoy the most is training the student veterinary nurses and of course the unlimited cuddles with the animals, there is no better therapy than a kitty cuddle. Veterinary nursing is a great career as no one day is the same. It is very fulfilling!

What is your favourite animal and why?
I don’t have a favourite. I love my cat but one day I want a dog or two... A house feels like home with an animal to look after and greet you when you walk through the door.

What pets do you have at home and what are their names?
I have a cat called Loki. Those of you who know me may have heard a story or two about her naughty antics! Typical naughty tortie but I wouldn’t change her.

What’s the best animal name that you have come across?
Francis Bacon! She was a micro pig who grew to 17kg and she did tricks like a dog.

What’s the best aspect of working at Vets4Pets?
Doing different things every day and never knowing how the day will pan out. It could look (dare I say) ‘quiet’ but it never turns out that way. There is always something new to learn about keeping me interested in my job.

I started working at Gosport vets4pets in 2011 and I absolutely cannot see myself working anywhere else!

As part of the reception team my role is varied and includes client care, acting as a liaison between clinical staff and clients, a lot of cleaning and completing administration such as insurance claims or registering microchips.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job has to be the patients, getting to know them is a pleasure and getting to cuddle them just makes my day! I love that no two days are ever the same, you just never know what the next call is going to be!

Have you got any pets and what are they called
have a collie cross called Ben. He always greets me after work with suspicious sniffs. I think he gets a little jealous that I cuddle other pets at work.

Seeing the care that everyone puts in to looking after your animals, there is so much more that goes in to pet health care than people sometimes realise. This is not just a job for us. We are passionate about what we do and we all care about your pets as if they are our own.

What are your interests?
I love to make food, mostly cake and fresh pasta! I am an outdoors person and having dogs means that I can get outdoors every day. My dogs take up a huge part of my life and I love making the most of having time off, by taking regular holidays and weekends away! My bucket list travel destination is Hawaii and I'm hoping to go to Texas with my Husband in the near future!
