I qualified from Liverpool University in 2003. After 18 months in a mixed practice in Bedford I moved back to the North East where I spent a year travelling and locumming. I then joined a small animal practice where I became senior vet. In 2009 I started locumming again until I opened the Kingston Park practice in 2012. In 2016 I then opened the Gateshead practice with my husband Mark.

My aim for the practices has always been to provide excellent patient care in a friendly, approachable environment where we can help owners make an informed choice about their pet's care. We're very much a family run practice so set ourselves high standards of care for our patients, clients and team.

I have a very holistic view of veterinary medicine and feel that all treatment plans should be tailored to a patient. I've been using acupuncture for a few years and have an interest in chronic pain treatment.

Melanie has been working in the North East since graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2012. She loves all part of her work but has a particular interest in ultrasound scanning and surgery. You may well meet her dog Douglas who sleeps behind reception during the day, he loves a cuddle!

Outside of work Melanie is very keen on travelling and tries to go somewhere different every year, when she can! She also enjoys going out walking, especially on the amazing beaches down the North East coast.

Mark

Practice Manager

Read Mark bio

Mark is the Practice Manager at both Gateshead and Kingston Park. Mark came on board full time when the decision was made to open Gateshead to help Samantha run the rapidly growing business.

Gateshead has become the sister practice to Kingston Park which opened its doors December-2012. A practice that is owned as with Gateshead by Samantha Sauer, Marks other half. Both Gateshead and Kingston Park are truly a family run business.

Marks aim as Practice Manager is to continue at Gateshead what has made and is continuing to make Kingston Park so popular with its clients. To create a place that provides a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where clients can make an informed choice about their pets’ care.

Outside of work Mark is a keen outdoor enthusiast. He is hoping once their daughter is old enough she too will follow their passion of climbing and hiking.
