Meet the team
Nicole started training as a vet nurse back in 1991, but soon decided to go to university and became a qualified veterinary surgeon in 1998 and started work in the UK in April that year. She stayed with her first practice in the North West of England for 10 years and worked alongside a large team of vets and nurses covering four branch practices. She has always had a passion for soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery and loves spending time in the operating theatre. Prior to opening Bedford Vets4Pets in February she gained the General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Practice and completed the General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Surgery this year. Nicole has a Rescue Terrier called Twix, three chickens called Spot, Blue and Belle and a Rescue Ragdoll called Del, and a PRE horse called El.

Carissa qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from the Royal Veterinary College in July 2024 and started working with us following her graduation.
She has interests in dermatology and Surgery.
Carissa grew up in a household with no pets but developed a love of animals and an interest in medicine from a young age regardless.
Since being here Carissa has adopted a stray cat who was brought into the practice, a black and white domestic shorthair now named Coo, who is the first of many pets to come.
Wendy started her nursing training at a practice in Dunstable in 2006, she qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in January 2009, and moved to Vets4Pets in July that year. She then became our Head Veterinary Nurse in April 2015.
Wendy attended a pet health counsellor course in 2010, focusing on nursing clinics and diets, Wendy runs our puppy parties which she really enjoys doing. On top of this Wendy's favourite aspects of nursing are running clinics, obstetrics and assisting in theatre.
Her other roles include being a clinical coach and trains student Veterinary Nurses within the practice.
Wendy owns a large crossbreed dog Called Albie, who thinks he is a lapdog.
Natalie is one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses and started with us in May 2018. Natalie qualified in July 2013 and has worked in various small animal clinics. Natalie has a special interest in Feline nursing, and has completed the ISFM diploma in Feline nursing in 2020.
Natalie has three cats and a Tortoise at home called, Tortoise, Patch, Jet and Tigger who Natalie rehomed from us as a stray.
Mel is one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses and started with us in November 2021.
Mel started her nursing career straight from school and qualified in 1992, and has worked in a variety of Small animal clinics in that time.
Her interests include Canine Behaviour, training, nutrition and fitness.
Outside of work Mel is owned by 2 Chihuahua's and 2 Chickens, her hobbies include collecting, customising and painting model horses and working on her beloved car.
Bea has been with us since 2019 starting as a part time receptionist. She is now a Registered Veterinary Nurse and really enjoying being more involved with the clinical side of the practice. Her main interests are dermatology and canine health. Outside of work she is kept busy by her two young children and her Jack Russell.
She still has a soft spot for Doberman’s but cats will always win 1st place in her heart.
Hopefully she’ll start coming in with some pawsome additions of her own soon!
Lorraine started with us as a part time VCA in August 2021.
She was made redundant in 2009 after 22 years at the same company and having volunteered for a local animal charity for many years she decided to go to Shuttleworth college to study a Btech level 3 in animal management. From this she worked at the college animal Centre looking after many species including lemurs, marmosets and porcupine. She then went on to be an ACA at a veterinary hospital for 6 years working night shifts looking after inpatients and assisting the vets with emergencies.
Jan is our Head receptionist, she started at Vets4Pets in 2008.
Jan's favourite aspects of her job are talking to the clients and making a fuss of their pets.
Jan has a Jack Russell Terrier called Starlet who is 7 years old and thinks she is a princess and a Rabbit called Diff.
Tracy, is one of our full time receptionists, is one of our longest serving members of staff, having started at the practice in July 2014.
She loves how varied her role is as no two days are the same, and enjoys customer service having worked in this field for her entire working life, but of course the most enjoyable aspect of the job has to be meeting the puppies and kittens in for their first vaccinations and occasionally hand rearing abandoned kittens.
Tracy has five cats of her own, two cheeky domestic shorthairs she hand reared from a few weeks old which she just couldn’t say goodbye to, and three stunning Maine Coons, who are all spoilt rotten!
